Introducing Qwen2-Math

Qwen2-Math series is a new line of math-specific large language models designed to excel in mathematical tasks. These models, available in sizes of 1.5B, 7B, and 72B parameters, outperform both open-source and proprietary models like GPT-4o. The Qwen2-Math models are built on the Qwen2 foundation and are pretrained on a specialized mathematical corpus, with rigorous evaluations conducted on various English and Chinese math benchmarks.

The series includes the Qwen2-Math-Instruct models, which are instruction-tuned for enhanced performance. These models are fine-tuned using a math-specific reward model and have demonstrated superior results on complex math benchmarks and competitions, including the International Mathematical Olympiad. Decontamination processes were applied to ensure data integrity during training and post-training.

The flagship model, Qwen2-Math-72B-Instruct, has shown exceptional performance, surpassing state-of-the-art models like GPT-4o. While currently supporting only English, there are plans to release bilingual and multilingual models in the future.
